Sidewalk Repair & Restoration
ARC provides full sidewalk installation, repair, and restoration services in San Francisco. We specialize in elastomeric pedestrian and vehicular traffic systems that afford maximum weather, water, and traffic protection. State of the art elastomeric liquid membranes provides a flexible protection system impervious to water, sunlight, and abrasion. Waterproof membranes can be installed on the surface of an existing concrete slab sidewalk, or the topping slab can be removed, structurally reinforced, and a new “between slab” membrane with drainage mat can be installed.
The photo above shows the last stages of cleaning a completely replaced sidewalk fronting the Tiffany & Co. store in San Francisco. Leakage from the sidewalk into a storage and electrical facility basement required replacing the entire failing membrane and sidewalk. In order to allow for foot traffic in and out of Tiffany’s, the project was divided into two lengthwise segments with 3 bridges to accommodate entries to and exits from the building.
Sidewalk Reconstruction Steps
- Demolition of the first half of the sidewalk
- Removal of the failed membrane from the structural slab
- Priming the structural slab
- Applying CIM waterproofing membrane
- Application of membrane Protection Course, then Pouring and working the concrete
The same steps were then implemented on the second half of the sidewalk, including forming/pouring the curb and then pouring asphalt to fill in street at curb. The entire completed sidewalk was treated with a sparkle finish and then power washed to complete the project.
